How the estimate is worked out

The estimator uses three simple steps.

  • Billed per month= students × average monthly fee
  • Collected per month= billed per month × collection rate
  • Left uncollected per month= billed − collected

The yearly figures repeat the same sums over the number of months in your academic year. They are worked out from the unrounded amounts, so they can differ by a few rupees from the rounded monthly figure times the months.

For example, take 120 students paying ₹2,000 a month, with 90% of fees collected, over 12 months. You bill 120 × ₹2,000 = ₹2,40,000 a month and collect 90% of that, ₹2,16,000, leaving ₹24,000 uncollected. Over 12 months that is ₹28,80,000 billed, ₹25,92,000 collected and ₹2,88,000 left uncollected.

This is an estimate from the numbers you enter, not a forecast and not financial advice. Real collections change with admissions, discounts and how quickly families pay.

Frequently asked questions

How is monthly fee revenue estimated?

Multiply the number of students by the average monthly fee to get what you bill each month. Multiply that by your collection rate to get what you expect to collect. Whatever is left is uncollected. For a year, the same sums are done over the number of months in your academic year.

What is a collection rate and how do I find mine?

Your collection rate is the share of the fees you billed that you actually received. Divide the fees received in a period by the fees billed for that period and multiply by 100. For example, if you billed ₹2,40,000 and received ₹2,16,000, your collection rate is 90%.

Why do uncollected fees matter over a year?

A small gap each month adds up. If the gap is ₹24,000 a month, it is ₹2,88,000 over 12 months, because about the same gap repeats each month. The yearly figures are worked out from the unrounded amounts, so they can differ by a few rupees from the rounded monthly figure times the months. Seeing the yearly figure next to the monthly one makes that easy to see.

Does this tool store the numbers I enter?

No. The estimator runs entirely in your browser. What you type is not sent anywhere and is not saved, so it is gone when you close or reload the page.
