Attendance, worked out for every student

ClassVahi tracks present, late and absent for each batch and computes this per student.

How attendance percentage is calculated

Your attendance percentage is the classes you attended divided by the total classes held, multiplied by 100.

Attendance % = (classes attended ÷ total classes held) × 100

For example, say you attended 18 out of 20 classes. Your attendance is 18 ÷ 20 × 100 = 90%.

Against a target of 75%, you can still miss the next 4 classes, because 18 out of 24 classes is exactly 75%. Now take the other side: if you attended only 10 out of 20 (50%), you would need to attend the next 20 classes in a row to reach 75%, because 30 out of 40 is exactly 75%.

The target is yours to set. Schools, colleges and institutes have their own rules for the minimum, and for which classes count, so use the figure your institution gives you.

Frequently asked questions

How is attendance percentage calculated?

Divide the number of classes you attended by the total number of classes held, then multiply by 100. For example, 18 attended out of 20 held is 18 ÷ 20 × 100 = 90%. The calculator rounds the result to two decimal places.

How is the number of classes I can miss worked out?

The calculator finds the largest number of extra classes you could skip, with none attended, while attended ÷ (total + missed) stays at or above your target. With 18 attended out of 20 and a 75% target, you can miss 4 more classes, because 18 out of 24 is exactly 75%. Missing a fifth would take you to 18 out of 25, which is 72%.

How many classes do I need to attend to reach my target?

The calculator finds the smallest number of classes you must attend in a row, with none missed, so that (attended + new classes) ÷ (total + new classes) reaches your target. With 10 attended out of 20 and a 75% target, you need to attend the next 20 classes in a row, because 30 out of 40 is 75%.

Is 75% attendance compulsory?

Many schools, colleges and boards set a minimum attendance requirement, and 75% is a common figure, but it is not the same everywhere. The rule itself, and how classes are counted towards it, vary by institution and by course. Check your own institution's rule and enter that figure as your target.
